Jamie SanFilippo
Jamie SanFilippo spent most of her childhood in Meshoppen, a
small town in Northeastern Pennsylvania. She grew up spin fishing with
her older brother and cousins in the backyard creek, Susquehanna River,
and local ponds. During her Penn State career she worked part time at
the local YMCA as a lifeguard and personal trainer. She also played
softball at the collegiate level and was on the PSU boxing team. Jamie
graduated from Penn State with a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology with
an emphasis in Fitness Studies in 2010 and began her career working for
the YMCA of Centre County. She often thought about starting a new and
challenging sport and purchased her first fly fishing rod in 2013.
As the Director of Community Outreach and a self taught fly fisherman, she
partnered with the Spring Creek Chapter of Trout Unlimited. As the proud
sister of a United States Marine, she became actively involved the
Veteran Service Program as a Stream Side Mentor. In addition to fly
fishing, Jamie spends her time with her dog Jesse and enjoys hunting,
going to country music concerts, wine tasting, and working out in the
gym.
